Spanish champions Barcelona completed the transfer of highly rated attacker David Villa from Valencia on Wednesday to make the first big money transfer of the 2010 summer transfer window about a month before the start of the World Cup.
The Catalan side didn't hesitate to pay Valencia an amount of £34.2 million for the services of the Spanish international, thus making Villa one of the ten most expensive players in history.
The former Zaragoza man enters the top ten at the expense of Andriy Shevchenko, who left Milan for Chelsea for an amount of £30m in 2006. Real Madrid duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka still occupy the two top spots in the top ten after their 2009 moves.
